Efficient Graph Coloring with Parallel Genetic Algorithms

چکیده
In this paper a new parallel genetic algorithm for coloring graph vertices is presented. In the algorithm we apply a migration model of parallelism and define two new recombination operators SPPX and CEX. For comparison two problemoriented crossover operators UISX and GPX are selected. The performance of the algorithm is verified by computer experiments on a set of standard graph coloring instances.

Parallel Jobs Scheduling with a Specific Due Date: Asemi-definite Relaxation-based Algorithm
This paper considers a different version of the parallel machines scheduling problem in which the parallel jobs simultaneously requirea pre-specifiedjob-dependent number of machines when being processed. This relaxation departs from one of the classic scheduling assumptions. While the analytical conditions can be easily statedfor some simple models, a graph model approach is required when confli...

Graph coloring is a way of coloring the vertices of a graph such that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. Graph coloring problem (GCP) is about finding the smallest number of colors needed to color a given graph. The smallest number of colors needed to color a graph G, is called its chromatic number. GCP is a well-known NP-hard problems and, therefore, heuristic algorithms are usually...
متن کاملOn Sum Coloring of Graphs with Parallel Genetic Algorithms
Chromatic number, chromatic sum and chromatic sum number are important graph coloring characteristics. The paper proves that a parallel metaheuristic like the parallel genetic algorithm (PGA) can be efficiently used for computing approximate sum colorings and finding upper bounds for chromatic sums and chromatic sum numbers for hard– to–color graphs. Suboptimal sum coloring with PGA gives usual...
متن کاملDistributed-memory Parallel Algorithms for Distance-2 Coloring and Related Problems in Derivative Computation∗
The distance-2 graph coloring problem aims at partitioning the vertex set of a graph into the fewest sets consisting of vertices pairwise at distance greater than 2 from each other. Its applications include derivative computation in numerical optimization and channel assignment in radio networks. We present efficient, distributed-memory, parallel heuristic algorithms for this NPhard problem as ...
متن کاملOn Distributed Graph Coloring with Iterative Recoloring
Identifying the sets of operations that can be executed simultaneously is an important problem appearing in many parallel applications. By modeling the operations and their interactions as a graph, one can identify the independent operations by solving a graph coloring problem. Many efficient sequential algorithms are known for this NP-Complete problem, but they are typically unsuitable when th...
